Quick Pic Slip – Rare!

I know I don’t post alot of photos of myself on here. I don’t know why. So this quick pic slip today is quite an unlikely thing for me to do!

When I was younger and MySpace was hot and Facebook was the big new thing (lol, I know I’m totally dating myself here), I would seriously post a new selfie practically every single day. I loved it. I got addicted to all the positive validation I could easily receive online.

But as I’ve gotten older, I just outgrew that. And I stopped enjoying even taking selfies at all. So I don’t appear in many photos anymore. Even when I travel someplace really cool, my photos will be 99% my surroundings, and maybe <1% me.

It’s probably also related to how I’ve lost confidence in my appearance as I’ve gotten older too. I know that’s something I need to turn around, and just haven’t yet. And as I posted about here, this year of lockdown only made that worse for me, as it’s taken away all my reasons to even get dressed to wear makeup or style my hair. Those reasons everyday for me are now gone, and I’ve had a hard time doing it otherwise.

Anyhow, I did find a recent selfie of myself that I like so I can use it for my quick pic slip today. It’s still probably a year old since I haven’t taken one in a long while. But I figured I can reveal myself to you all – my squad. 🙂

How about you? Do you post alot of photos of yourself online anymore? Why or why not?

  1. It’s always cool to see what people look like on blogs. I have an idea of what each person looks like based on their personality through posts so it’s always nice to put a face to words!

I never like having my photo taken. When I was younger it was bc I was insecure and always seemed awkward bc I could never find a good pose.. But now I just don’t bother bc I end up judging every part of myself and I’d rather not waste the time lol…

    1. I think it’s cool too, to see what people really look like behind their blog. It makes me feel like I “know” them just a smidge bit better, makes it feel more personal. Aw, I’ve started to be judgmental over myself too, so I can relate to how you feel. It’s not fun. 🙁

  2. I don’t like to have my picture taken. I hate the way I look when I smile. Photos of me come when I am visiting family or if I am traveling and want a photo with a specific thing.

    1. I hate the way I look when I smile too! So I end up smirking in my pics instead. I don’t know, just my smile isn’t photogenic at all. So I know what you mean. 🙁

  3. I hate selfies on principle, plus I hate the way I look. I don’t post pictures on here just for anonymity reasons, since my blog is mostly based on true stories about people who mostly don’t know that I’m writing about them.

  4. It’s so awesome to put a beautiful face to the words I read 💜 I used to be a model so my pics were invariably online.. I don’t mind it but I’ve become more cautious about having my pictures out there

  5. I love personal photos and seeing what the person behind the page looks like. It’s nice to see you. I get it though, I’m hesitant as well, because, ya know…the internet.

    1. I know it! I’ll probably take this post down too, bc I don’t want people seeing this pic. Especially since I don’t want anyone from my real-life finding me here. 🙁
